Experts introduce the working principle of graphitization furnace
Feb 07,2023
The graphitization furnace refers to the graphitization furnace named after the inventor Acheson. The Acheson furnace was invented in 1895 and was first patented in the United States. Its prototype is: in a long furnace made of refractory material, filled with carbon billet and granular material, forming a conductive furnace core, the furnace core is surrounded by insulation material. Conductive electrodes are arranged on the two upper walls of the furnace head, and the conductive electrodes are connected with the power supply to form an energizing loop. When the circuit is connected, the furnace core heats up due to resistance, so that the carbon billet is transformed into artificial graphite by 2200 to 2300 high temperature heat treatment.

Working principle of graphitization furnace
According to the analysis of the electric-thermal balance of the graphitization furnace, the graphitization furnace is a thermal equipment that consumes a lot of electricity, so how to reduce the power consumption is the main content of the energy-saving of the graphitization furnace, and it is also the only way to reduce the production cost of the graphitization under the premise of ensuring the quality of the product. Ai, the difficulty of graphitization of its products is also one of the factors affecting the power consumption of the graphitization process. In addition to improving the graphitization yield of products as much as possible and reducing all kinds of waste products, we can also improve the graphitization process technology, enhance the thermal insulation effect of thermal insulation materials, improve the structure of graphitization furnace, prevent the oxidation of conductive electrodes, change the connection mode of graphitization furnace and distribution transformer system, reduce the power consumption in the inking process and save energy.
Graphitization Furnace Overview:
1) The material and specification of the conductive electrode adopts the impregnated electrode with large cross-section;
2) Under the condition that the transformer is matched with the graphitization furnace, the number of conductive electrode groups distributed on the inner end of the graphitization furnace should be reasonably selected, and the current density should be controlled below 6.25 A/cm2;
3) According to the product specification and power transmission curve, the cooling time of water supply should be controlled within 14~16h after power transmission;
4) After each cycle of operation of the graphitization furnace, check the resistance of the conductive electrode in time to ensure the operating capacity and prevent production accidents.
The laboratory high temperature graphitizing furnace series has a unique compact construction and is designed for R & D; laboratory environments. The effective volume diameter is 100mm/heating height 300mm or the effective volume diameter is 200mm/heating height 300mm. The whole cylindrical furnace is surrounded by heating elements and thermal insulation materials, and a water-cooled protective layer is added outside. The compact size is ideal for the preparation of some small samples. The graphitizing furnace and the software-controlled electric cabinet are integrated on a simple working platform.
This makes it well integrated with university or industrial R & D laboratory applications. Small size, simple operation, high cost performance, heating and atmosphere performance without discount. The cylindrical structural design is also very suitable for overpressure heat treatment. The entire system can be equipped with a locking device or a safety protection device with up to 100bar support according to customer requirements.The heating element and insulation material are graphite, and the temperature controller is an infrared thermometer. An over-temperature protection thermocouple can also be added as needed, and it can also be used for unattended experiments.
